HANDS floods Response in Pakistan September 3, 2022
With the support of development partners, and philanthropists HANDS was able to extend Flood Response to 35 districts of Pakistan by providing the relief items by providing relief items to over 630,000 people. The scale of Floods In Pakistan 2022 is immense and thousands of families still need your support.

Food Ration distribution to Flood affected people at Tehsil Ali Pur, Muzafargarh September 6, 2022
Tehsil Ali Pur, District Muzaffargarh, Punjab is also severely affected by the flood. Team HANDS distributed ration to the flood affected community at Tehsil Ali Pur. Water was stagnant and HANDS tea reached to the affected area through boat.

Distribution of Hygiene Kits at district Pishin, Balochistan September 6, 2022
Few weeks before, flash floods and heavy rain destroyed a considerable number of houses in rural Pishin. Sanitation becomes one of the primary issues in case of disasters. To give ease to these people, HANDS in partnership with Action Against Hunger – Pakistan Mission distributed 81 emergency latrine kits to residents of Golie, Dub Khanzi, Main Khanzi, Sar Khanzi and Khodu Khanzi in Pishin, Balochistan.

DG Khan also swamped by fresh deluge, Heavy rains on the Koh-e-Sulaiman range have flooded the Rod Kohi irrigation channels carrying overflowing water from the hill torrents. HANDS Teams reached Taunsa, District DG Khan and distributed 600 ration bags to the flood affected communities
Flood Emergency Relief Camp at Islamabad September 8-17, 2022
The monsoon rains started in Pakistan in the last week of June 2022. Since the start of the monsoon season, Pakistan has received 60% of its total average monsoon rainfall in just three weeks. Heavy rains have caused urban and flash floods, landslides, and Glacial Lake Outburst Floods (GLOF) throughout Pakistan, most notably in Balochistan, Punjab, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Sindh.
Above-normal precipitation was predicted over most parts of the country during the forecast season.
HANDS in collaboration with HERA Trust- Pakistan Special Magazine set up a Flood Relief Camp at Main Jinnah Avenue, Islamabad. The purpose of this activity was to collect in-kind contribution from the local philanthropy for flood affected families of Pakistan. The camp was held for ten days from September 8-17, 2022. This was managed both by HANDS and HEAR Trust teams.
In this ten days HANDS were able to collect food rations, warm clothes and shoes, women hygiene products, dry ration, Non-food items, Shoes for women, men and Children, Medicines, for 200 families. People also provided cash in HANDS account both for Zakat and donations.

UNCEF delegation visited HANDS interventions related to WASH at district Larkana Sindh September 8, 2022

UNICEF Islamabad Delegation led by Mr. Inoussa Kabore, (Deputy Representative of UNICEF in Pakistan) along with Mr. Prem Bahadar Chand (Chief Field Officer), Mr. Antony (UNICEF Chief of Nutrition), Dr. Hari (UNICEF Chief of Health), Mr. Prakash Raj Lamsal (UNICEF WASH Specialist), Mr. Ihsanullah (WASH Officer), Ms. Mehwish Maria (Child Protection Officer), and Mr. Akram Buledi (Education Officer) visited HANDS WASH Interventions in 3 Flood Relief Camps in Larkana where the provision of water through water bladders and tanks, sanitation services through temporary latrines, hygiene promotions through sessions, and hygiene kit distribution have been initiated with UNICEF’s Support. Additionally, 2 child-friendly spaces have also been established for flood-affected children in Larkana.
Medical Camps for Flood Affected population at Karachi September 9, 2022

Thousands of flood affected families migrated to Karachi’s rural areas. HANDS District Office Karachi, Badin, organized a Medical Camp at Yar Mohammad Goth, Ghaghar Malir, to address the health issues of children and women among the migrated families. Become a source of relief for millions, and donate today.
Due to the devastation caused by floods, many families also migrated to district Badin, and suffered from numerous diseases like diarrhea, skin diseases, eye infection, asthma, UTI, and Otitis, etc. To overcome the situation, HANDS team organized a free medical camp at Taluka Talhar, where the OPD number is more than 250 per day, and we still require many such camps and medicines to serve more affectees.
District Ghotki has also been badly impacted by floods, especially women and children who are suffering from viral diseases. To meet the needs of the people of Ghotki, HANDS organized a Medical Camp in the Village Gangi UC Ali Bag Taluka, Ghotki – where 253 patients were treated on the first day.

Child Friendly Spaces by UNICEF at district Larkana Sindh September 9, 2022
Psychological traumas after disasters are some of the core issues overlooked especially in children. For their psychological well-being HANDS with partnership of UNICEF Pakistan established Child Friendly Spaces at Benazir Stadium, Larkana. Multiple games and activities are being organized for the flood affected children. Shelters were also provided at the stadium

UN Secretary General along with PM Pakistan Shahbaz Sharif, Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and CM Sindh Murad Ali Shah visited district Larkana, Sindh September 10, 2022
Today Mr. António Guterres UN Secretary General, PM Shehbaz Sharif, Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, CM Sindh Murad Ali Shah visited a Flood Relief Camp in Quaid-e-Awam University Campus in Larkana. HANDS Chief Executive Dr. Tanveer Ahmed conducted meeting with United Nations Agencies regarding flood response in Pakistan and also accompanied UN SG Delegation during their interaction with flood affectees in Camps.
Dr. Shaikh Tanveer Ahmed also visited HANDS WASH Interventions and Child Friendly Space supported by UNICEF in different Relief Camps of District Larkana.

Medical camp by HANDS in Collaboration with IBA September 11, 2022

HANDS, in collaboration with the IBA – Institute of Business Administration – Karachi, organized a one day, free medical camp for flood affectees at HANDS maternity home Mirpur Khas, Sindh. More than 500 patients were provided with medicines and sanitary items during the camp. While 42 antenatal, 7 post-natal, 11 family planning, 27 ultrasounds, 62 vaccinations, and 39 lab services were provided. During the camp, Asaan Sehat HANDS telehealth services were used by many patients

2-Day training on Neurodevelopmental disabilities by HANDS at Multan September 20-28, 2022
Children with neurodevelopmental disabilities need special care and attention, especially in rural areas in such tough times. To fulfill this unmet need, HANDS Pakistan organized two days of training for community workers at HANDS Independent Living Center, Multan.

Distribution of Hygiene Kits at Sanghar with support of UNICEF and PPAF September 24, 2022
To promote hygiene among flood affectees, HANDS in partnership with UNICEF Pakistan distributed hygiene kits and soaps at Rajo Goth Jhirk, District Thatta. A total of 190 hygiene kits and 12 soap boxes were distributed under the WASH Emergency Response project. Hygiene sessions were also held at TLS.
To keep promoting cleanliness among flood affectees, HANDS Sanghar team distributed Hygiene kits in flood affected areas of UC Sadhno under Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund Project, District Sanghar.

Distribution of Hygiene Kits at Lasbela, Balochistan with support of UNICEF September 27, 2022

HANDS team Lasbela, Balochistan, engaged with WASH UNICEF Pakistan and conducted activities in various villages of Tehsil Uthal & Tehsil Bela. They distributed hygiene kits, dust bins, aqua tab, & sachets among the flood affected population. The team also conducted health awareness sessions with teachers, students, & the community.
